Safe and Confident Neighbourhoods 02/03/2010
The Police Superintendents’ Association welcomes the publication of the Safe and Confident Neighbourhoods Strategy. Speaking on the publication of the report, President Elect, Chief Superintendent Derek Barnett, said: ‘Neighbourhood Policing is now firmly established in all police forces across England and Wales. We have seen increased levels of public confidence and reductions in crime, and a significant contribution to this success has been the partnership working between the police and local authorities, other key partner agencies and the valuable contribution of Police Community Support Officers.
‘The strategy builds upon this success and identifies some additional measures to make Neighbourhood Policing even better. However, the Police Service alone cannot tackle anti-social behaviour and as we continue to face even more contrained public finances it is absolutely vital that partner agencies continue to support this important service to our communities.’
