PSA President Paul Griffiths has responded to today's HMICFRS report on Policing the Pandemic:
“Our Service has been continuously open, honest and transparent about the challenges it has faced in policing the pandemic. Despite these challenges, we have been unwavering in our resolute commitment to doing all we can to support and protect communities.
“I am delighted that this report reflects this, highlighting this ‘dedication and commitment’ and expressing gratitude to every member of the police family for their incredible efforts.
“In a complex and fast-moving context, where we have learned the ‘rules’ surrounding the national response to Covid-19 at the same time as the public, policing has responded admirably and with a clear focus on supporting the country.
“Now is the time for us to harness the learning and best practice of the past year, as we work to build the best Police Service possible, that is right for the demands of today and for the challenges of tomorrow.”
