As I write this I reflect on the past year, which is my last as President of our Association.
It has been challenging, eventful, and above all demanding for policing as a whole – a situation that shows no sign of changing soon.
I am conscious that it has also been demanding for you both professionally and personally.
When I have met many of you around the country I am always been struck by your passion for policing and your commitment to serving the public. That is unswerving, despite the continued pressures on you and your colleagues. It is why we are police officers, and why I am so proud to lead this Association.
At this time of year I am also conscious that many of you will be working and on call.
Whatever you are doing over the Christmas and new year period I hope that you are able to spend some time with your loved ones.
I wish you and your families a peaceful Christmas, and I look forward to seeing many of you in the new year.
